A new mini-course here….
An awesome opt-in there…
Ooooo a new webinar….
“Drop everything else I started… THIS is EXACTLY what I need!”
I remember when I thought creating a six figure business through Google, YouTube and opt-ins was my best idea ever. We were in $120k worth of debt, I was working four jobs at the time and the last thing I wanted to hear was to buy some course/program/coaching to take out the guesswork.
Following all the free shiny objects out there “worked” for about a year and a half before I woke up one day realizing I was not only burnt out and overwhelmed but resented my business, my clients, social media, my inbox…. you name it. My income was at a plateau, I had no idea which of the 108938374 ideas I learned to try next, I was comparing myself to everyone and their mom and before I knew it, I was on the phone with a business coach crying my eyes out.
Ugly cry EXTREME. I was too burnt out to feel shame at that point.
I had realized by that point how valuable what she was offering (aka focused clarity!) was but… we would have to charge it. And let’s just say our credit cards weren’t exactly empty. My husband and I had no idea what to do.
That’s where my “Business ROI Challenge” came in.
I made a promise to my husband that I would make back ALL of the money by the end of the program (yes, on top of what I already made monthly in my business). That I would literally do everything she told me, and make this work. For us.
I was scared out of my mind but couldn’t guess my way to long term success anymore. I knew this was my time to make a change.
That following month, I made the additional $3k to cover the cost of the coaching I signed up for and kept my promise. In fact, it was that promise that kept me insanely accountable to following through.
It made me so focused on what I needed to do that I didn’t look at anything else out there during that time. No other training, no distractions, no other webinars… NOTHING.
I then started to apply that same concept to ANY training I invested into… because it worked and still continues to.
It’s easy to be excited at the beginning of something new but not as easy to finish it, right? #shinyobjectsyndrome
Fast forward to now….
Even through our finances look much different than they once did… I still apply this same challenge to myself with EVERY training/course/coach I do.
I focus all of my learning energy on what I signed up for and don’t sign up for or consume anything else during that time frame. Truly getting everything out of the experience and APPLYING it asap to get the biggest return from it.
Doing this not only keeps me accountable to FINISHING what I start but also seeing the direct financial results from them within that first month, time and time again.
I wanted to share that with you because I know it can be tempting to try and take on everything at once. Chasing one shiny object to the next BUT…
You don’t always need the next new thing in order to build your business.
You simply need to COMMIT and FINISH what’s in front of you, and achieve the results signed up for, before moving on.
