Do you struggle with taking your own advice?
We all know that we can be our worst critics but how many times are you your own worst client as well?
You know… the moment when you know exactly what you SHOULD be doing, yet find yourself completely ignoring your own advice.
Not too long ago, I found myself falling into that trap…
I decided to redo my website and while NOW I help entrepreneurs maximize their time in order to grow their income and impact in their online business… my background is in graphic design. With that, came the ability to know enough to get by when it comes to WordPress. However, just because we can do something, doesn’t mean it’s our strength.
WordPress is not my strength.
So there I was, clicking through coding and hitting fresh every ten minutes.
Nope, more to the left. Nope, something isn’t right there. Nope, let me try this instead.
And then it hit me…
Why the hell am I doing this right now?!
I show people how to lead from their strength to succeed and here I am ready to throw my computer out the window doing something that’s not in my strength-set.
I went on upwork… wrote a detailed description that included a screenshot with arrows and text of exactly what I was trying to change and hit submit.
Within an hour, while I answered messages in my inbox, I had 20 proposals. About an hour after that, as I was out doing errands, everything I need changed was done.
One hour and $12.44 saved me from what was about to become a weekend of hair pulling and time wasting.
… all because I chose to treat myself like my own client and FOLLOW MY OWN DIRECTIONS.
How are you with following the advice you give to others?
Today I want to ask you to simply evaluate if you are taking the same actions that you would ask your client to take.
Does something need to change or do you get a big high five today?
