Whenever I mention that went from working 80 hours a week between FOUR jobs to building an online business that allowed me to completely replace my income and live life by my own design…
Everyone always asks HOW.
HOW did I have the TIME to build a business that quickly when many days I left the house at 7:45 am and worked anywhere from 12-16 hours straight?
HOW did I know what I was supposed to do?
The answer really is simple…. I didn’t have time to think about it so I took ACTION.
In fact, now that I’ve started offering complimentary 30 minute #ACHIEVER sessions (you can click HERE to grab yours if you haven’t already) for women who are serious about growing their online business and simply need to know what action steps to take themselves…. I’ve been thinking about just how crazy my schedule really was back then.
For awhile, I worked my online business in 20 minute increments throughout the day because that was the only option I had. Other times, I worked while hiding in the bathroom #truestory. And other days it was sitting in Grand Central in NYC at midnight while waiting for the next train back home.
I refused to allow myself to get wrapped up in busy work because I simply didn’t have time for it. No fancy website, no frilly mc frill emails…. If it wasn’t growing my business or my income, it didn’t get done.
In fact… here’s what a typical weekday looked like for me back in 2012…..
5 am: Wake up and workout
6-630 am: Shower while listening to a webinar or audio book
630-730 am: BUSINESS POWER HOUR (schedule my social media posts for the day, send out
new messages to build relationships, create content for blog/future social media
7:30 am: Head to full-time job
12-1230 pm: If I took lunch break, check on any incoming messages, schedule calls, and
reply/or on social media)
5-6 pm: Take any calls I needed to have on my drive home or to night job.
6-7 pm: BUSINESS POWER HALF HOUR (personal shares, invites and/or anything that got
me into a conversation with people who could benefit from what I offered).
7pm – ??: Throughout the night… catching up as needed (typically from my phone).
Was this easy on a daily basis? No.
It took some serious WHY power to push through some days. Remembering that was I was working towards was so much bigger than my current situation.
Easy single part time job I was able to let go of was a celebration.
Every credit card bill I paid was showing progress.
Every email of gratitude for the work I was doing left me feeling fulfilled.
And less than a year after I started my first online business, I walked into my full-time job and handed in my resignation letter. It was the last one on the list and I was in such a state of bliss that the building could have fallen on me and I wouldn’t have known.
I found the time, focused on what mattered and brought freedom into my own life – on my terms.
You can do the same.
Wanted to share this because if you’re someone in the 9-5 (or more!) life right now, I get that it’s not always easy. However, when you have a WHY you are fighting for and a dream in your heart… you keep going and don’t stop until you are living the life you know you are meant to have.
It’s worth every second.
