The answer is NOT everyone.
For years in my business, I couldn’t get that through my mind. I was serving people with fitness and health products and EVERYONE needs to be healthy, right? We have the biggest rate of obesity in the U.S…. there are PLENTY of people I can help. If someone like me could reach my healthy goals, ANYONE could. That was my mindset as I went from call to call and e-mail to e-mail wondering why people didn’t see the incredible value I had to offer. No after no or simply people disappearing off the face of the planet after we talked. And let’s not even talk about what my social media looked like at the time! It was no wonder I found myself feeling frustrated, stuck and questioning if I was even cut out for that kind of work.
Then it hit me… in trying to serve everyone, I served no one.
In order to try to make everyone “like me,” I stood for nothing. I never voiced my true opinions. I played everything safe. And because of that, my business was moving nowhere – fast.
“What makes you unique, makes you millions.”
This was one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in my business. You see, every entrepreneur has a brand and a voice. But not everyone uses it in a way that stands them out from the crowd. People don’t follow or work with the “vanillas” of the world. They work with the unique and real. And the minute you tap into that is when you make the choice for your business to skyrocket.
I went from OWING the network marketing company I was working with from so many returns and not enough sales to retiring myself and my husband from our full time jobs, paying off over $65k in debt and living out life by our own design by learning to own my brand.
And I want to help you do the same.
How can you tap into your unique gifts to stand out among the crowd?
- Know your personality – and own it.
There may be five hundred people out there that offer what you do. However, there is no one just like you. So many times people get wrapped up in trying to be like others that they completely forget that the power of their business is within. Maybe you’re quirky or maybe you are more calm and relaxed. Maybe you curse like a sailor or maybe you think a woman cursing is unprofessional. Maybe your idea of a good time is a margarita on the beach or maybe it’s a mount side oasis. Own it. Share it. Make it known. That’s what makes your message different than anyone else’s (and honestly, more fun for you!)
- Know what specific problem you solve.
You could do a hundred different “step into your perfect customer” avatar exercises but if you aren’t solving a problem that they can feel in their core… you’ve got nothing. No one will be connected to you because you can visualize the coffee shop they sit in. They will connect to you because you can solve their specific problem. The nagging problem that continues to stand in the way of what they want in life.
Do you “help people get out of their own way” or “help women, who continue to feel alone in every relationship they are in, break free from the mental blocks that prevent them from expressing their feelings to their partner? “ Get SPECIFIC. You can’t solve all the world’s problems but you can solve a specific one for a very specific person.
- Know how you can solve that problem in a way that produces results.
How does your product or service solve that deep seeded problem? Does it take them step by step through the journey that will bring them to the desired outcome? Does it make their life do a 180 in the next three months? What exactly are you offering? If you don’t know, they won’t know either. And a confused mind always says no.
Will you please everyone? Not at all. But I promise you, if you don’t please everyone… it means you stand for something that the RIGHT people will connect with. It means you are owning your business on your own terms. And most importantly, it means that you will be able to make a true impact in this world, while being personally and financially free in the process.
